Mayor’s Desk: Summer 2018
The view from the Mayor’s desk….
School is out and I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Our new park project (the old Culver property) is a big undertaking but we are making progress and plans every week. We would still like our citizens to participate in naming the park. Forms are available at city hall for input on what you would like to see there and for the name of the park.
Taylor Park recently had lights installed on the hillside trail as well as lights in the pavilion so it can be used after dark. Taylor park’s basketball court will be undergoing a major renovation in the next few weeks. It will be replaced by concrete and get new goals. It will last quite a while!
All 3 of these projects are financed by 50/50 matching grants from various providers. We are only paying 50% for the acquisition of the park property, the lights and the new basketball court! We have other projects in mind and are working on grant money to finance them.
The 4th of July is coming up and as a reminder, fireworks are only allowed to be used in the city limits from July 1-4 from noon to midnight. Hope everyone has a safe and great summer!
