View From The Mayor’s Desk – March 2017
The View From The Mayor’s Desk…
Hard to believe it’s already the end of March. Hope this update finds all of our citizens doing well. We recently completed the sidewalk connecting the bridge behind city hall to the apartments and the school property. This makes the walk to school much safer than before. Citizens are also encouraged to use this route.
We also recently purchased a compactor for our recycling center, the majority of this cost was covered with a grant we received. This purchase will save us time and money. We have also received notice that we were approved for a grant for Taylor Park. We will use this money to install additional playground equipment for 2-6 year olds. We are constantly applying for grants to help improve our city.
Our annual spring clean-up is Friday May 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday May 13 from 9 a.m. until noon at the community center. We will take appliances, furniture, lumber, and trash. The trash must be boxed or bagged. This will included an E-Waste (tvs, computers, etc..) recycling area courtesy of Boston Mountain Recycling. Please call city hall at 521-5760 with any questions. We have many other projects in the pipeline. We will keep you posted.
Great things are always happening in Greenland!
