Minutes of the Greenland City Council August 10, 2015

Meeting called to order at 6pm. Those in attendance: Mayor Groom, Stephanie Sharp, Eric Bryant, Danny Dutton, Lisa Thornton, Bill Yoes, Justin Reed, Danny Wright & various guests. Katherine Hudson and Kendra Croddy arrived at 6:07pm. Mark Myers absent.

Motion by Thornton to approve July’s minutes, 2nd by Reed. Motion passes 5-0-1 with Mayor Groom voting to approve and Eric Bryant abstaining.

Motion by Thornton, 2nd by Reed to approve July’s treasurer’s report. After some discussion, motion passes 7-0.

Planning Commission report presented by Michael Moore.

Building Inspector report presented by the mayor.

Court and Police report presented by the mayor. Chief Ricker is at the chief’s convention.

Motion by Thornton, 2nd by Dutton to put ordinance #319 (sign ordinance)on 3rd and final reading by title only. Motion passes 7-0. Mr. Wright complies. Motion by Thornton, 2nd by Yoes to accept ordinance #319.  Motion passes 7-0.

Annexation of area around 265 south of Wilson street was discussed. No action taken.

Taylor Park update: Hope to have trail completed by end of September. A new roof was put on park bathrooms.

Boston Mountain Solid Waste District- We are applying for a grant to expand the recycling building. Should receive $8,000. We got a bid for $8,500.

Snowplow/Spreader- Need to purchase one for new truck. Cost is $13,000. No action taken.

Resolution 08-10-2015. Authorizing Contract with Ben Gordon. Motion by Thornton, 2nd by Bryant to read resolution 08-10-2015 by title only. Motion passes 7-0. Mr. Wright complied. Motion by Thornton, 2nd by Bryant to accept resolution 08-10-2015. Motion passes 7-0.

Council Room reconfiguration: Mayor Groom would like to put in the budget next year money to redo the courtroom/council room. Council agreed to look at it.

Question about tree blocking view on Wilson and 71. Mayor will look into it.

Question about Wiles Road. Will be put on September’s agenda.

Citizen had a suggestion on future plan of court room/council room for 2016.

Motion by Thornton, 2nd by Bryant to adjourn at 7:07pm. Motion passes 7-0.

Our former Mayor, Bill Groom passed away unexpectedly just a few weeks after leaving office. Bill had his heart set on spending more time with his wife and family members after twelve years as our Mayor, and two years spent on the city council.
