June 10, 2024 Council Meeting Minutes

 

Meeting called to order at 6:00pm

Those in attendance: Mayor Jim Renfrow, Misty McCard, Rebecca Lawson, Jermaine Petty, Bill Yoes (remote), Diane Reed, Travis Whisenhunt, Chalon Ragsdale, Mark Herrmann. Lisa Thornton-absent

Announcements/Comments-Blake Hanney/Johnson Family spoke regarding their concerns with the rezoning on Campbell. Citizens also have multiple concerns with the Hog Box business that is in their neighborhood.

Citizen Anne Prichard handed out a handout on The Historic Johnson Farm which is located at 3150 West Pear Lane in Fayetteville.

Rebecca Lawson motioned to approve May 2024 minutes, Travis Whisenhunt 2nd motion. Passed 5-2 abstained

Rebecca Lawson motioned to approve May 2024 treasurer’s report, Mark Herrmann 2nd motion. Passed 6-0

Court & Police Report-Chief Stout gave report.

Code Enforcement Report- Larry Norman gave report.

Building Inspector Report- Troy Enochs gave report.

Planning Commission Report- Brenda Reynolds gave report. Brenda Reynolds recommended everyone to come to the next Planning meeting July 1, 2024, at 6pm to discuss the zoning recommendations/conditional Use application for Hog Box business.

Committee Report-

Parks Committee-the committee is working on the design standards for the Fun Park Grant.

Policy Committee-recommended the city to place a description of the Policy committee on the website.

Mayor Renfrow mentioned that the nonuniformed employees started using a timeclock app.

Unfinished Business:

Update on Wastewater System Rehabilitation Project- Mayor Renfrow signed the sewer loan documents. The city will be getting a reimbursement of $527,706.83 from the sewer project.

The city paid $475,000 to the First Horizon 2017 bond.

New Business:

Ordinance 388- Redistricting City Wards-

Rebecca Lawson motioned to place Ordinance 388 on the 1st reading by title only, Travis Whisenhunt 2nd motion. Passed 6-0

Rebecca Lawson motioned to approve the 1st reading of Ordinance 388, Travis Whisenhunt 2nd motion.

Rebecca Lawson motioned to place Ordinance 388 on the 2nd and 3rd reading by title only, Travis Whisenhunt

Rebecca Lawson motioned to approve the 2nd and 3rd reading of Ordinance 388, Travis Whisenhunt 2nd motion. Passed 6-0

Rebecca Lawson motioned to enact an emergency clause for Ordinance 388, Travis Whisenhunt 2nd motion.

Rebecca Lawson made a motion to adjourn, Mark Herrmann 2nd motion. Passed 6-0
