June 9, 2025 Council Meeting Minutes

 

Meeting called to order at 6:00pm

Those in attendance:

Mayor Jim Renfrow, Recorder Treasurer Misty McCard, Police Chief Craig Stout,

City Attorney David Hogue, Code Enforcement Larry Norman, Jermaine Petty, Lisa Thornton, Bill Yoes Diane Reed, Travis Whisenhunt, Chalon Ragsdale.

Rebecca Lawson and Carly Farinella-absent

Announcements/Comments- Mayor Renfrow discussed the hiring of a part time street person as well as a full-time new court clerk. The City of Greenland would like to thank everyone that helped with the May Tornado cleanup.

 

Lisa Thornton motioned to approve May 2025 minutes, Travis Whisenhunt 2nd motion. Passed 6-0

 

Lisa Thornton motioned to approve May treasurer’s report, Travis Whisenhunt 2nd motion Passed 6-0

 

Court & Police Report-Chief Stout gave report. Chief Stout is working on a Grant for hiring a new police officer.

 

Code Enforcement Report/Building Inspector Report-. Larry Norman gave report.

 

Planning Commission Report- Brenda Reynolds gave report.

 

Committee Report:

 

Parks Committee-The City of Greenland’s Riverside Park off Hwy 71 needs to have an official name selected.

Policy Committee- Mayor Renfrow gave an update on getting the Greenland Zip code.

 

Unfinished Business

Update on Wastewater System Rehabilitation Project– Trent Williams gave an update. Orr Construction helped with the tornado cleanup.

Trent Williams with McClelland is working on an easement for the new Oakcrest gas station on Lillie Lane.

Ordinance 399-Stormwater Ordinance-

Lisa Thornton motioned to place Ordinance 399 on the 3rd and final reading by title only, Travis Whisenhunt 2nd motion. Lisa Thornton motioned to approve the 3rd reading of Ordinance 399 by title only, Bil Yoes 2nd motion.

Passed 6-0

Ordinance 400-Solidwaste Ordinance-

Lisa Thornton motioned to place Ordinance 400 on the 3rd and final reading by title only, Travis Whisenhunt 2nd motion.
