Mayor Groom’s City Update
Mayor Groom’s City Update: Great things are happening in Greenland thanks to the cooperation between the city council and me. With the exception of the trees, the following projects are being mainly funded by GRANT MONEY!
- We are in the process of converting the Community Center into a warming center with the installation of a natural gas generator. This will allow citizens to have a place to go in the event a winter storm knocks out power. The generator has been ordered so we hope to have that complete soon.
- We are also beautifying the area around the baseball fields and the community center by planting 8 large Oak trees. This will improve visual appeal and eventually provide shade.
- A concrete pad will soon be constructed in front of the recycling center. This will make it easier for you to use and safer for our employees to process the materials. This can also be considered the 1st step in resurfacing the entire Community Center parking lot.
- The $250,000 street resurfacing project is 95% done and the $1,243,000 sewer upgrade project is 70% done.
