Mayor Groom’s City Update
Great things are happening in the city of Greenland. In addition to our great recycling program that we have, during the month of September until the 19th we are doing E-Waste recycling. Citizens can bring their electronics to city hall during business hours. This service is free in cooperation with Boston Mountain Solid Waste District. This is a great time to get rid of old computers, cell phones, television sets etc… If you need more information call city hall at 521-5760.
I am sure many of you have noticed the construction going on around the city. We are upgrading our sewer system. This will double the capacity. All the pipe should be laid by January 1, 2015. This is largely funded by a grant in conjunction with the city of Fayetteville.
You will also be seeing road construction in October. We are currently working on the details with the Arkansas state highway department and the contractor. This overlay project is being funded 100% by the state highway department and is bringing our city $250,000 in street upgrades. We intend to overlay Peerson, Frisco, Sandy and Napier streets.
If you have any questions or concerns call city hall or drop me an e-mail at mayor@Greenland-ar.com.
