Mayor’s Update February 2020
Update from your Mayor about things going on in Greenland;
- Spring is close and that means potential severe storms. The school has 3 storm shelters on all three school school’s north sides. These are available to the public.
- Our annual spring clean-up is at the community center Friday, May 8th, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday, May 9th, from 9:00 am to noon (for more info come by city hall for a flyer) or check our website.
- Our nature park has been approved by ADEQ and is progressing. We will probably be doing a controlled burn this spring.This project will be a work in progress for a few years.
- We have installed LED lighting and ceiling fans at the community center along with other updates within the past year. That includes new tables and chairs and some spiffing up in general.
- We are increasing our capacity of the recycling center over the next 3 years. Phase 1 is underway with a roof extending west from the existing facility. This program has become very successive. Let’s keep up the good work!
I would like to remind our citizens that we use grants funding on many of our projects.
- We have agreed to contract with a new building inspector who is fully accredited and lives nearby (West Fork).
- One of the most unique happenings in our city is the new Hog Valley RV Park (a mile south of Tobo’s on county road 65) – west side on 49. When you get a chance, go check this thing out.
I am pretty sure you will be surprised and impressed with what you find.
The “tree houses” are unbelievable and can be rented. By the way, our city gets revenue from this operation! More information can be found on their website HOGVALLEYRV.COM or phone (479)466-0696.
Until next month,
Bill Groom – Mayor
