Minutes of the Greenland City Council July 13, 2015
Meeting called to order at 6:02pm.
Those in attendance: Mayor Groom, Stephanie Sharp, Katherine Hudson, Danny Dutton, Kendra
Croddy, Lisa Thornton, Bill Yoes, Mark Myers, Justin Reed, Danny Wright and various guests.
Motion by Dutton, 2nd Hudson to approve June minutes. Motion passes 6-0-1 with Thornton
Motion by Thornton, 2nd by Dutton to approve June treasurer’s report. Motion passes 7-0.
No planning commission meeting for June.
Building Inspector report: No new permits pulled.
Court and Police report. Chief Ricker out of town, left a report for council.
Sign Ordinance #319: Motion by Thornton, second by Dutton to place ordinance #319 on the
2nd reading by title only. Motion passes 7-0. Mr. Wright complied. Motion by Thornton, 2nd by
Dutton to accept the 2nd reading of ordinance #319. Motion passes 7-0.
Security remodel update: Nearly complete and under budget.
Demolition update: Waiting on Lazenby to remove dumpsters.
Foster home/park update: Home has been taken down. Requests for bids for dirt work for the
trail have gone out. Requests for bids for concrete work will follow. R/T will contact county
assessor to have the house removed from the tax roll for future years.
Truck update: Truck has been delivered for $6,500 under budget.
Short St railroad work is complete under budget by $1,250.
Annexation: Conversation started about annexing parts of 265 to include the soap factory. No
Disaster Recovery Training: The mayor and chief Ricker attended a workshop in Little Rock
where they found out the Legislative Audit is requiring a disaster recovery plan. Plan is in the
Mayor advised that Bob Wise is looking to building 300 homes just off Napier. Will be done in 3
phases. Sewer might be an issue we need to address. The mayor also met with some people
interested in building a commerce park in Greenland.
Citizen comments: Brenda Reynolds advised the city that a petition is going around to put the
issue of making Greenland a “wet” city on the ballot in 2016.
Motion by Thornton, 2nd by Dutton to adjourn at 6:37. Motion passes 7-0.
