Minutes of the Greenland City Council June 12, 2017

Meeting called to order at 6pm. Those in attendance: Mayor Groom, Stephanie Sharp, Eric Bryant, Danny Dutton, Larry Forrester, Beckey Center, Lisa Thornton (came in after amending agenda vote), Bill Yoes, Pat Lindabury, Justin Reed, Chief Ricker, Danny Wright and various guests.

Motion by Bryant, 2nd by Reed to approve the May’s council minutes. Motion passes 7-0.

Motion by Reed, 2nd by Forrester to approve the May’s treasurer’s report. Motion passes 7-0.

Motion by Yoes, 2 nd by Bryant to amend the agenda and move the ORT report next. Motion passes 7-0.

Jeff Hatley presented the ORT report. There were no request for rides.

Brenda Reynolds presented the planning commission report. Tom Hennelly with Crafton Tull and Donnie Frazzel both gave presentations on a proposed amphitheater just outside the city limits and requesting a possible annexation into Greenland. Eric Bryant asked if the city would be responsible for any upgrade to the sewer system for this project. The representatives said no, the cost would be on them 100%. They were asking for a motion of support for the project. Motion by Thornton, 2nd by Reed to show a spirit of support for the project. Motion passes 8-0.

Mayor Groom presented the building inspector report: 2 remodel permits pulled.

Chief Ricker presented the court and police report. The 2009 Impala was wrecked. Chief asked permission from the council to purchase a new vehicle 6 months ahead of schedule. Motion by Bryant, 2nd by Thornton to approve the spending of $35,000 for a new police vehicle. Motion passes 8-0.

Motion to adjourn at 7:05 by Bryant, 2 nd by Reed. Motion passes 8-0.

Our former Mayor, Bill Groom passed away unexpectedly just a few weeks after leaving office. Bill had his heart set on spending more time with his wife and family members after twelve years as our Mayor, and two years spent on the city council.
