Minutes of the Greenland City Council May 14, 2018

Meeting called to order at 6pm. Those in attendance: Mayor Groom, Stephanie Sharp, Eric Bryant, Larry Forrester, Danny Dutton, Beckey Center, Lisa Thornton, Bill Yoes, Patricia Lindabury, Justin Reed, Chief Ricker, Danny Wright, Carole Jones and various guests.

Motion by Reed, 2nd by Dutton to approve the April’s council minutes. Motion passes 7-0-1 with Yoes abstaining.

Motion by Dutton, 2nd by Forrester to approve the April’s treasurer's report. Motion passes 8-0.

Brenda Reynolds presented the planning commission report.

Building Inspector Report: 1 inspection

Chief Ricker presented the court and police report.

Speed Bump: Citizen comments on possible ways to slow traffic on Letitia. Danny Wright presented his legal opinion on the speed bumps. Reed made a motion to place 2 stop signs on a 6 month trial basis and stripe the road. Reed then amended his motion to only include the stop signs. Dutton 2 nd the motion. Motion passes 8-0.

Culver Property Update: The hearing on the annexation of the property is June 19 th at 10 am in the county courtroom.

MHBF price increase. Due to the city being moved into a different category, the premiums will increase by $36 per individual plan and $81 per family plan per month starting July 1. This will affect our projected budget.

Basketball bid: Resolution 05-14-2018A Motion by Thornton to read resolution 05-14-2018A by title only, 2 nd by Reed. Motion passes 8-0. Mr. Wright Reed. Motion by Thornton to approve resolution 05-14- 2018A, 2nd by Reed. Motion passes 8-0.

Swepco Invoice: Resolution 05-14-2018B Motion by Dutton to read resolution 05-14-2018B by title only, 2nd by Forrester. Motion passes 8-0. Mr. Wright Reed. Motion by Dutton to approve resolution 05-14- 2018A, 2nd by Forrester. Motion passes 8-0.

Citizen’s comments: Mr. Horn is concerned about the ditch by Letitia bridge. He is also wanting a new bridge on Letitia.

Motion to adjourn at 7:07 by Thornton, 2nd by Dutton. Motion passes 8-0.

Our former Mayor, Bill Groom passed away unexpectedly just a few weeks after leaving office. Bill had his heart set on spending more time with his wife and family members after twelve years as our Mayor, and two years spent on the city council.
