Feb 2016, The View From The Mayor’s Desk
Hope this update finds all of Greenland’s citizens doing well. Great things continue to happen in our wonderful city. We recently received numbers from the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District for 2015. We came very close to keeping 30 tons of recyclables out of the landfill. That compares to 25 tons in 2014. Folks, that is a 20% increase for the year. That is outstanding!! Our goal for 2016 is another 20% increase. What the public (TAXPAYERS) must realize is the more material diverted to recycling from the landfill, lessens the need to buy more property for more landfill acreage. In other words, successful recycling programs like ours save taxpayers money. Thanks for sorting the stuff at our center and let’s keep up the good work!!
-Our spring cleanup is May 6th and 7th. Friday May 6th we will be open from 9am-4pm and Saturday May 7th from 9am-3pm. This will again be located in the community center parking lot. We will get details out soon about what will be taken.
-Our park and footbridge projects continue to move along. More updates in the future.
Great things are happening in Greenland!!
