The View From The Mayor’s Desk: May 2016
The View From the Mayor’s Desk-
I hope this update finds the citizens of Greenland doing well. I am happy to report the addition of the walking trail at Taylor Park is complete and turned out very well. It is about a quarter mile paved walking trail around the new part of the park that also includes a paved exercise station with different pieces of equipment. I encourage all of our citizens to use this great asset paid for mainly with grant money. We are also working with the Beaver Lake Watershed folks to augment our grass with bushes, tree and other plants to improve the drainage.
Code Red Alert System- We are currently waiting for a new contract with Code Red. This service was unknowingly discontinued for some of the cities. We hope to get this back online within the next 2 months. In the meantime, you can sign up with local tv stations, free of charge, for notifications of severe weather in our area.
While we continue to seek and for the most part receive grants , our main bottleneck on developing our city is the sewer system. We intend to focus on this issue. Until we find a way to upgrade this system, we will be severely handicapped as far as development is concerned. Any solution to this problem will be expensive. We will get a plan in place and keep the voters informed. We need to invest in our future!
