School starts tomorrow so I want to remind everyone to allow a little extra time in
your morning commute to help keep our children safe. Greenland is excited to welcome our new superintendent, Dr. Andrea Martin, she is going to be a great asset to our school.
We have had a lot of accomplishments in the past few months as well as some things getting ready to happen: We received a $5,400 grant for a new trailer & totes for the recycling center. This was needed because it continues to grow each month. This past year we averaged 50 lbs per citizen. This is a great number! We are always looking for grant money to help save your tax dollars. Soon you will see a new police SUV patrolling the streets. This will make 3 black SUVs which are a great fit for our police department.
Thank you for passing the sales tax increase to help with our sewer system. This money will start to be collected in a few months and bidding out the project will start early next year.
We had a citizen come to us with a great idea of having movies in the park next
summer. This is something we hope to be able to accomplish! We have 2 other
projects in the works that, if they work out well, will have a very positive affect on
our city. We still have some hoops to jump through but we should know within 6-
8 weeks about these. We will keep you posted on our progress.
We are very excited about what can happen very soon in Greenland!! As always, my door is always open to the citizens of Greenland.
