May 13, 2024, 2024 Council Meeting Minutes

 

Meeting called to order at 6:00pm

 

Those in attendance Mayor Jim Renfrow, Misty McCard, Rebecca Lawson, Jermaine Petty, Lisa Thornton, Bill Yoes, Travis Whisenhunt, Chalon Ragsdale, Diane Reed and Mark Herrmann-absent

Comments-Mayor Renfrow informed council Chris Smith was hired as the new administrative assistant.

Rebecca Lawson motioned to approve April 2024 minutes, Travis Whisenhunt 2nd motion. Passed 5-0

Rebecca Lawson motioned to approve April 2024 treasurer’s report, Jermaine Petty 2nd motion. Passed 5-0

Court & Police Report-Chief Stout gave report. Officer Katie Griffin was promoted to Sergeant on April 28, 2024.

Code Enforcement Report- Larry Norman gave report.

Building Inspector Report- Troy Enochs gave report.

Planning Commission Report- Brenda Reynolds gave report.

Committee Report-

The parks committee has been working on grants for the park. Discussion regarding setting up an account specifically for park donations.

Policy Committee plans to add more individuals to the committee.

Unfinished Business:

Update on Wastewater System Rehabilitation Project– Trent Williams gave sewer update. Sewer Loan closes May 14, 2024. Orr Construction has the contract for the sewer upgrade.

New Business:

Fun Park Public Hearing– public comments

Resolution 05-13-2024-Fun Park– Rebecca Lawson motioned to approve Resolution 05-13-2024, Lisa Thornton 2nd motion. Passed 6-0

Ordinance 385- Amended Sewer Rate Ordinance-

Rebecca Lawson motioned to place Ordinance 385 on the 1st reading by title only, Lisa Thornton 2nd motion. Passed 6-0

Rebecca Lawson motioned to approve the 1st reading of Ordinance 385, Lisa Thornton 2nd motion

Rebecca Lawson motioned to suspend the rules and to place Ordinance 385 on the 2nd and 3rd reading by title only, Lisa Thornton 2nd motion. Passed 6-0

Colby Johnson is appointed to the Planning Commission.

Citizen comments- Drainage issues on Pollard and Yoes

Rebecca Lawson made a motion to adjourn, Lisa Thornton 2nd motion. Passed 6-0
